mint cakes (and such)

i have parties on the brain. it is my birthday season, after all. mint green has been quite popular in weddings the last two to three years, and for good reason. it is a sweet compliment to the vintage and rustic trend, a neutral that blends well with pink, orange, peach, navy, you name it, and as popular as it's been, it still feels like a unique choice.

if pantone has anything to say about it, though, our affections will soon turn to purple. sorry, "radiant orchid." (i'm not ready yet, i must admit). before it happens, i'm giving props to these crave-worthy mint cakes, and thinking something in this lovely hue would be just the thing to celebrate this year.

how about these delectable sugar cookie mini cakes?

this ultra-pale mint cake looks amazing with hot pink and bright yellow accents. this cake was spotted at wedding chicks where i saw this dress:

 it would be a perfect compliment to any one of my mint dream cakes. sadly, i have crawled the web, including a google reverse image search (so cool) to no avail for the designer. sigh. anyone know whose it is?

and while we're on the subject of dresses, this one is just right too:

 {available (yay!) through bhldn}

but back to cakes...

ok, so this is technically cheating since it's not a mint green cake, but, it's my favorite cake of all time so i don't care. and it's on a jadeite cake stand so it counts. {via design sponge}

now. i can't leave this post without digressing just a little...because where there are cakes, you know there are going to be flowers.

and where there are flowers, there are usually invitations...so just for fun, this paper suite showcases the versatility of mint:

we usually see it alongside coral, peach or pink for a romantic, boho feel. but when paired with navy, it becomes both classic prep and modern. {invitations by aerialist press featured on ruffled blog}

speaking of paper, is this not the best favor idea ever?

 go to martha stewart weddings for a tutorial on how to diy personalized stationery that serves as both a favor and a placecard. genius! (see, i'm not too far off topic- this was allowed in because of the mint green plates, which- guess what?- you can find at ikea for next to nothing!)

last but not least, i can't help but post this super beautiful picture from southern weddings (again, so worth your time to read the article...every shot is gorgeous!)

...since i'm pretty sure this will be exactly how i look when i am eating my mint green birthday cake. yes.

thanks for reading and have a great monday!
